Wish List
- The white fogginess of the images & contrast needs to be improved as well as saturation/vividness. It's been improved on the 3Gs a little
- The 3GS gets excessive blowouts in the highlights of both photos & video
- Please continue to work on grain & noise, as well as lowlight capabilities. Most of the times at parties & events where we want to take iPhographs, people will be indoors under bad lighting
- Let us switch off Auto focus as a setting. it’s great for still photos & macro but for moving people & objects, it’s just too slow & requires 2 hand use for people who aren’t able to hold the iPhone/iPod & tap on the screen with their thumb. This includes most people with small hands & less dexterous people
- The hyperactive white balance. You may take a picture of the most lime coloured bush you have ever seen & it comes out white because I think iPhone/iPod decided "Nup, can't possibly be that green. Here ya go, this is better" (improved slighly with 3GS)
- Battery life. We will never be satisfied no matter how good it gets. In our tests, we get about 9am to midnight most days. It got bumped with the 3GS but we will always complain about batteries till the cows come home.
- A continuous mode - just like the button in the bottom left to access your library, a button at the top right to take images without the saving animation as fast as the the camera will allow. This has kind of been addressed with the video option in 3G S but it would still be good to be able to fire at something & later select the best shot
- We would like to see iMovie turned into a similar set up as iPhoto to store all of you videos as well as edit it & share to the web. Maybe it could even house your video podcasts, purchased moves & TV shows & leave iTunes for music, after all 'Terminator' is not exactly a tune?? iSync could be used as 1 single way to handle the syncing to each iLife app as well as store apps downloaded from the app store for your iPhone & maybe in the future your Mac
- Syncing is still buggy, we hate having to open iPhoto to load the photos & videos then open iTunes to download them back to the iPhone. As above, it would be better to have 1 program to the sync all devices. e.g... iSync would open with 2 options, sync now & preferences. It will display a syncing time bar & a sync complete message when done. Newly updated Apps would be readied to load to your iPhone thru iSync & photos would both upload to iPhoto then download the updated library to your iPhone/iPod thru iSync as well as video's uploading & downloading to iMovie & music uploading & downloading to iTunes. We don't want our videos with our photos & we don't want our music with our movies. In real life we don't go to our CD collection to find our photo's, nor do we open old shoe boxes & dusty albums to find TV shows. Each item should be stored in a more logical place.
- Cases have sliding covers for the lens but we would like to see a thin small sliding cover built in. Scratch the front of the iPhone/iPod with sand or stuff in your pocket & it still works fine but because of the small lens size, 1 grain of sand or a scratch will seriously inhibit the usability of the camera
- Flap for the dock port. Because who wants an item that's going to cost $1100AU over 2 years (in the editors case) only to have it destroyed by a 5 cent piece in your pocket
- We think the reason iPhone sales used to be slow in Japan was not because of the previous lack of Emoji, it's because of no hole to attach dangly things! & seriously, what’s a Japanese mobile without dangly stuff & hand straps?! Some Japanese people have half of their life & Disney Tokyo hanging from their mobiles. We really want something that we can attach a lanyard to or shock cords that allow it to stretch & reach my ear but not to hit the ground if dropped. Millions could enjoy the iPhone without the ugly cover (just a screen film) because you’d never drop it. We suggest the bottom left hand side so if dangling when you look at it, it will be right side up
- Higher resolution screen. Its great as it is but when your see the 930 000 pixel screens on high end SLR's that are better than print resolution you start to wish (the iPhone is currently 153 600 px)
- Oh & Apple please use your spare cash to start your own mobile & internet network. Dealing with Telecom companies is the most painful thing that any human being could ever possibly experience. Many people have anxiety attacks at the thought of having to contact them. More people go into a fit of rage over telecoms than just about anything else in life. Any small business run as badly as them would be closed by Fair Trading (an Australian organisation) in a minute! It took 27 days to turn on the internet line (that was already connected but just needed to be switched on) & 2 weeks plus several house calls from staff with paperwork & several visits to the phone store for dozens of ID checks to get the iPhone connected to a company that we are already a customer of. On the upside Apple iPhone support is fantastic. Update: the Aussie government after receiving 150,000!! complaints about Telco's this year has decided to create a name & shame monthly report card for poorly performing Telco's
- To be able to tag & add keywords & tag images from the iPhone/iPod because its very time consuming & would be great to be able to do it in down time like waiting for a train etc instead of sitting in front of the computer using iPhoto
