Tips
- " A life worth living, is a life worth recording & a life worth sharing". Live by it!
Sharing is the most important part of iPhography. Because without sharing your life, your not as motivated to live it. Some people wish not to share because they feel they haven’t been doing anything interesting. But there is 3 things wrong with that way of thinking.
1) You don’t know what is interesting or not to other people & you may be censoring the things that they are interested in. Even though it’s boring to you, it may be something that’s completely new to them. Riding a packed subway train & eating in the smallest Japanese restaurant might be interesting for someone in Australia that has so much space & vice versa
2)
It’s stops you searching for the interesting things in your life, the little & big things that make up who you are & will be
3)
It doesn't’t motivate you to live a more interesting life. But if instead you incessantly record every detail of your life, you will either bore people shitless or you will be motivated to make your life look interesting & in he process start living a more interesting life
- Keep it charged - Plug your iPhone/iPod in anytime you can, get extra juice packs, whatever! Just make sure its always ready to go
- Limitation is creativity. Set yourself a limit- "1 photo every minute at this party" or "Today every iPhograph will be taken through glass I find"
- iPhography is not what you do, but a record of what you did. Don't change your flow. Don't ask friends to pose. If you pass it by the time you get your iPhone/iPod out, then don't turn back, just click behind you
- Focus your life. Don't be afraid to crop or get in close
- Be ready to pounce. Leave the iPhone/iPod camera app open when you put it to sleep. Go into your settings & set double tapping of the home button to open the Camera app. That way you can be ready to shoot away without even looking at the screen & never missing that spur of the moment shot
- Warp it, blur it, glare it. Shoot into the sun, through a bottle or try to make the iPhone/iPod do that cool wobbly thing. Use the cameras idiosyncrasies to your creative advantage.
*Special Note: We know there are some blur haters out there because they are trying to take that perfect sunset shot, but when it comes to life recording, the occasional blur helps to create a sense of life & movement & include the viewer in the iPhograph
- Arm level not eye level. 99% of photos are taken from eye height. Be original & make the iPhone an extension of your arm & not your eye
- Girls learn from the guys. They carry their iPhone/iPod's on their belt or in their pockets. If it's in your handbag or left on a table, then it's useless (or stolen)
- Share, don't care. If ya worried about people seeing what you do, then you need to start doing something else. It's about recording your life, not editing yourself from every image
- Seen one, seen 'em all. PLEASE! Don't just take iPhographs of your dog, babies, looking up at tall buildings, looking down at feet, food, rust & textures etc. It's great for your memories but boring as hell for the rest of us.
- Do it everyday. Sync, sort, print, post, email or upload your iPhographs to your website or social network site & do it before it piles up & becomes a chore
