iPhography is a simple, cost effective, unobtrusive & spontaneous way to record your life. It’s really fun to see how people choose their approach to iPhography. Some people turn it into art by making great quality prints of interesting subjects while others have used iPhography as a way to get more candid street photography without a bulky obvious camera. Many use iPhographs as a simple visual note to remember something, like what colour & shape the sofa they wanted was.

Our aim is to unite iPhographers worldwide so WE WELCOME YOU TO USE THE TERM IPHOGRAPHY (as well as iPhographic, iPhographer & iPhograph) to describe an iPhone or iPod Photograph or Video. eg. You might have a website, magazine or blog titled “Small world” with the description as “a showcase of the worlds iPhography” or use iPhography to tag your iPhone/iPod photo's so other iPhographers can find them easily. To avoid infringing Apples copyright for iPhone or iPod, it’s shorter & easier to use the iPhography terms below instead of the long & awkward "iPhone & iPod Photography & Video" or anything with the words iPhone or iPod in the title. Also it helps refer to the creative movement rather than just the iPhone/iPod itself.

  1. iPhography - The worldwide movement of spontaneous life recording & untethered digital artistic creation through the use of iPhographs
eg. "Have you ever thought about getting into iPhography?"
  2. iPhograph - An image or images (video) captured & edited on an iPhone or iPod. Also a Pseudo-iPhograph is an image captured with another device & edited on an iPhone or iPod or captured on the iPhone/iPod but edited on a computer with software like Photoshop, iPhoto or Aperture
eg. "A new auction world record has been set by an Australian iPhographer for his iPhograph titled 'idid it iWay'"
  3. iPhographer - A person who uses Apples iPhone/iPod & 3rd party apps & accessories to create iPhography
eg. "My Mum's a fanatical iPhographer"
  4. iPhographic - Refers to the technique or equipment to produce an iPhograph or the general style & look of an iPhograph
eg. "I'm shopping for some more iPhographic equipment" or "Check out this iPhographic, it's beautiful"

There's also a Facebook group that's been created to help bring together iPhographers to share ideas, stories, iphographs or just to meet each other
