Introduction to iPhography
- iPhography - The spontaneous life recording & untethered digital artistic creation through the use of iPhographs
eg. "Have you ever thought about getting into iPhography?"
- iPhograph - An image or images (video) captured & edited on an iPhone, iPod, iPad or other iOS device. Also a Pseudo-iPhograph is an image captured with another device & edited on an iPhone, iPod, iPad or captured on the iPhone/iPod but edited on a computer with software like Photoshop, iPhoto or Aperture
eg. "A new auction world record has been set by an Australian iPhographer for his iPhograph titled 'idid it iWay'"
- iPhographer - A person who uses Apples iPhone/iPod/iPad & 3rd party apps & accessories to create iPhography
eg. "My Mum's a fanatical iPhographer"
- iPhographic - Refers to the technique or equipment to produce an iPhograph or the general style & look of an iPhograph
eg. "I'm shopping for some more iPhographic equipment" or "Check out this iPhographic, it's beautiful"

Tips
- " A life worth living, is a life worth recording & a life worth sharing". Live by it!
Sharing is the most important part of iPhography. Because without sharing your life, your not as motivated to live it. Some people wish not to share because they feel they haven’t been doing anything interesting. But there is 3 things wrong with that way of thinking.
1) You don’t know what is interesting or not to other people & you may be censoring the things that they are interested in. Even though it’s boring to you, it may be something that’s completely new to them. Riding a packed subway train & eating in the smallest Japanese restaurant might be interesting for someone in Australia that has so much space & vice versa
2)
It’s stops you searching for the interesting things in your life, the little & big things that make up who you are & will be
3)
It doesn't’t motivate you to live a more interesting life. But if instead you incessantly record every detail of your life, you will either bore people shitless or you will be motivated to make your life look interesting & in he process start living a more interesting life
- Keep it charged - Plug your iPhone/iPod in anytime you can, get extra juice packs, whatever! Just make sure its always ready to go
- Limitation is creativity. Set yourself a limit- "1 iPhograph every minute at this party" or "Today every iPhograph will be taken through glass I find"
- iPhography is not what you do, but a record of what you did. Don't change your flow. Don't ask friends to pose. If you pass it by the time you get your iPhone/iPod out, then don't turn back, just click behind you
- Focus your life. Don't be afraid to crop or get in close
- Be ready to pounce. Leave the iPhone/iPod camera app open when you put it to sleep. That way you can be ready to shoot & never miss that spur of the moment shot
- Warp it, blur it, glare it. Shoot into the sun, through a bottle etc.
*Special Note: We know there are some blur haters out there because they are trying to take that perfect sunset shot, but when it comes to life recording, the occasional blur helps to create a sense of life & movement & include the viewer in the iPhograph
- Arm level not eye level. 99% of photos are taken from eye height. Be original & make the iPhone an extension of your arm & not just your eye
- Girls learn from the guys. They carry their iPhone/iPod's on their belt or in their pockets. If it's in your handbag or left on a table, then it's useless (or stolen). [Dear Apple, a lanyard/strap hole would help us]
- Share, don't care. If ya worried about people seeing what you do, then you need to start doing something else. It's about recording your life, not editing yourself from every image
- Seen one, seen 'em all. PLEASE! Avoid cliches. Don't just take iPhographs of your dog, babies, looking up at tall buildings, looking down at feet, food, rust & textures etc. It's great for your memories but boring as hell for the rest of us.
- Do it everyday. Sync, sort, print, post, email or upload your iPhographs to your website or social network site & do it before it piles up & becomes a chore

Wish List
- 64 GB atleast please. We were a little stunned that the iPhone 4 only had 32 GB as the highest storage capacity
- When
photo syncing, it would be great if a user can select the size/quality of the photo's to sync back to the iPhone. Some people don't listen to music much but have 1000's of pictures & enjoy iPhography. It would be great to be able to edit our library of photos with the vast amount of great iPhone apps & not just the full resolution images in the camera roll. The images that currently sync back to our iPhones through iTunes are small & of poor grainy quality, not good enough to edit
- Please continue to work on grain & noise, as well as lowlight capabilities. Most of the times at parties & events where we want to take iPhographs, people will be indoors under bad lighting & pictures dont look as cool with flash as they do with available lighting. If you get the lens close to f1.4 with a high grain free ISO, we'll love you :P
- We would like to see iMovie turned into a similar set up as iPhoto to store all of you videos as well as edit it & share to the web. Maybe it could even house your video podcasts, purchased moves & TV shows & leave iTunes for music, after all 'The Matrix' is not exactly a tune?? iSync could be used as 1 single way to handle the syncing to each iLife app as well as store apps downloaded from the app store for your iPhone & maybe in the future your Mac
- Syncing is still buggy, we hate having to open iPhoto to load the photos & videos then open iTunes to download them back to the iPhone. As above, it would be better to have 1 program to the sync all devices. e.g... iSync would open with 2 options, sync now & preferences. It will display a syncing time bar & a sync complete message when done. Newly updated Apps would be readied to load to your iPhone thru iSync & photos would both upload to iPhoto then download the updated library to your iPhone/iPod thru iSync as well as video's uploading & downloading to iMovie & music uploading & downloading to iTunes. We don't want our videos with our photos & we don't want our music with our movies. In real life we don't go to our CD collection to find our photo's, nor do we open old shoe boxes & dusty albums to find TV shows. Each item should be stored in a more logical place.
- We think the reason past iPhone sales used to be slow in Japan was not because of the previous lack of Emoji, it's because of no hole to attach dangly things! & seriously, what’s a Japanese mobile without dangly stuff & hand straps?! Some Japanese people have half of their life & Disney Tokyo hanging from their mobiles. We really want something that we can attach a lanyard to or shock cords that allow it to stretch & reach my ear but not to hit the ground if dropped. Millions could enjoy the iPhone without an ugly cover because you’d never drop it. We suggest the bottom right hand side (when looking at the screen)
- To be able to tag people & add keywords from the iPhone/iPod because its very time consuming & would be great to be able to do it in down time like waiting for a train etc instead of sitting in front of the computer using iPhoto
